POSITION TYPE                           CASUAL (2 – 5 Days at a time w/ accommodation provided)

Background:

The cleaner, under the direction of the Grey Buffalo Grandfather Wellness Lodge Coordinator, is responsible for ensuring the safe and effective cleaning of the Grey Buffalo Grandfather Wellness Lodge. They will be required to perform tasks such as vacuuming, washing, dusting, laundering of bedding, and disinfecting, to name a few. The Cleaner will be responsible for ensuring that their required tasks are completed thoroughly, on time, and with minimal supervision.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure compliance with WHMIS and any other required legislation regarding chemical products.
  • Ensuring proper disinfectant procedures are followed.
  • Clean the communal room, dining room, lobby, etc. daily.
  • Spot washing walls daily.
  • Wash floors, wipe down tables, vacuum all carpeted areas, and sweep common areas.
  • Clean front and back doors daily, ensuring there are no fingerprints on the glass.
  • Replenish toilet tissue, hand towels and soap, and other supplies as needed.
  • Complete required training, including any required health and safety training.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • One (1) year of previous custodial/janitorial experience.
  • Highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to schedule and prioritize work independently.
  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally, at all times.
  • Must be willing to work as a team member.
  • Must be willing to prioritize tasks, efficiently to set and meet deadlines.
  • Flexible to respond effectively and positively in diverse relationships.
  • Valid WHMIS certification.
  • First Aid/CPR certification is considered an asset.
  • Subject to Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry and Prior Contact Checks.
  • Must have a valid Manitoba Driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
