Background:

The Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre is seeking an individual for the Yellow Shawl Team Lead position. The wide range of duties is to be in the child's and their families' best interests. The Yellow Shawl Team is a partnership between the Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre and the Community Education Development Association (CEDA). It will phase in a structured independent living program for young people between 16 and 21 years, who need an innovative youth housing program focused on providing safe and supportive housing. Responsible for the continued program development, case management, on-call and supervision of program staff, some outreach functions, and facilitating a comprehensive evaluation framework.

Responsibilities/Qualifications:

  • BSW degree or acceptable equivalent and related experience.
  • Participate in establishing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the program.
  • Maintains awareness of and facilitates knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and practices of governments and external agencies that impact the program.
  • Ability to supervise staff and House Mentors.
  • Assists individual staff in the assessment, review, and case management plan.
  • Update staff work performance.
  • Identifies and arranges individual and program area training needs.
  • Approves expenditure relating to the area of responsibility.
  • Maintains an accurate record of statistical and financial information.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and sensitivity to the issues that impact children/youth/families.
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Possess organizational skills and an ability to work independently and creatively.
  • Computer skills would be an asset.
  • Strong motivational and leadership skills.
  • Time Management skills.
  • Must possess a valid Manitoba Driver’s license and access to a vehicle would be an asset.
