POSITION TYPE FULL-TIME, OVERNIGHTS (Mon – Fri, 12pm – 8 am)
Background:
The Ma Mawi Chi Itata Centre, Inc. is seeking an individual for the youth mentor position for the residence for young males ages 11-14 years old. The site is a six-bed facility that will operate 24 hours, 7 days a week, and offer various assessment and support services. Luke’s Place will be a safe and nurturing environment where young men can experience strong caring, support, and encouragement while building the capacity to achieve their goals and dreams.
Qualifications:
- Child & Youth Care Diploma or acceptable equivalent and related experience.
- Residential Care experience would be an asset.
- Supporting Caseload and healing plans and implementing them with the adolescent males.
- Provide support/supervision to the residents.
- Program development and facilitation skills.
- Needs to have the ability to work cooperatively with others and contribute as a team member.
- Ability to work under stressful situations.
- Knowledge of Child Welfare Legislation and Standards.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Understanding of Aboriginal values and community issues.
- First Aid/CPR Certification.
- Must provide Police and Child Abuse checks.
- MUST HAVE A VALID DRIVERS LICENSE Class 5
