Job Summary:  

This position requires good communication skills, willingness to learn and listen, professionalism in all areas, positive problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently as well as on a team.

Our Food Security Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing the Better Access to Groceries (BAG), Grocery Accessibility Program (GAP), Supporting Access to Good Eating (SAGE), and any other food rescue/food security initiatives, which support the community and enhance the quality of life for residents.

The Food Security Manager will work closely with local partners, volunteers, and the Chalmers Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation team to ensure the success of our food programs.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinating BAG Program:

  • Collect all orders from BAG members – add new members as needed, continually updating member information.
  • Purchase produce in bulk while staying within budget.
  • Coordinate volunteers to assist as needed throughout BAG day.
  • Promote the BAG program to the community.
  • Keep track of all expenses and income, keeping detailed financial records.

Coordinating SAGE Program:

  • Build relationships and partnerships with current and potential food donation places.
  • Coordinate receiving food donations.
  • Coordinate volunteers to assist as needed to work the store front and stock the containers.
  • Promote the GAP program to the community.
  • Keep track of all expenses and income, keeping detailed financial records.

Coordinating GAP Program:

  • Build relationships and partnerships with other organizations and seniors buildings to keep the program running.
  • Coordinate with the City of Winnipeg and Winnipeg Transit to ensure the continued success of the program.
  • Promote the GAP program to the community.
  • Keep track of all expenses and income, keeping detailed financial records.

Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain accurate records of all BAG, SAGE, and GAP related expenses and activities.
  • Prepare regular updates and reports for the Executive Director and board of directors.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
