POSITION TYPE FULL-TIME
Overview:
- A Case Aide Worker in Child and Family Services provides support to caseworkers and families in managing cases related to child welfare, including abuse, neglect, and family services. This role involves assisting in the coordination of services, monitoring the safety and well-being of children, and helping families access resources to improve their situation.
Duties:
- Provide emotional support to children and families during meetings, home visits, and other interactions.
- Monitor children’s safety and well-being during visits, ensuring they are living in safe environments.
- Ensure children’s needs are being met (e.g., education, health, emotional support) and report any concerns to caseworkers.
- Assist with supervised visits between children and parents or other family members when needed.
- Maintain accurate records of case-related activities, including visits, communications, and reports.
- Submit reports to caseworkers regarding family progress, child safety, and any concerns or issues.
- Update case management software and databases with up-to-date information.
- Assist in scheduling appointments, including medical, counseling, or court appointments for children and families.
- Help coordinate transportation for families to and from appointments when needed.
- Collaborate with community agencies, schools, medical facilities, and other service providers to ensure the family receives needed support.
- Attend court hearings or other legal proceedings with caseworkers, as needed.
- Prepare and organize documentation for court reports related to the case.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Some college coursework in social work, child development, psychology, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience working with children or families in a social services setting is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work effectively with children, families, and professionals.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
- Knowledge of community resources and services for families.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful or emotionally charged situations.
- Basic understanding of child welfare laws and policies.
- Ability to travel locally for home visits and appointments.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds (may be required for certain tasks such as transporting materials or assisting with children).
- This position is typically office-based but will also involve fieldwork in the community and home visits to assess the safety and well-being of children and families.
