POSITION TYPE  PERMANENT, FULL-TIME (Mon – Fri, 8 am – 4 pm)

Background:  

The Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre is seeking an individual for the position as Care Planner. Luke’s Place strives to provide a nurturing and safe environment for young males ages 11-14 years old. The site is a six-bed facility that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and offers a range of assessment and support services. Luke’s Place is a safe and nurturing environment where young men will have the opportunity to experience a strong sense of caring, support and encouragement while building the capacity to achieve their goals and dreams. The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating and supporting at-risk males 11-14 years of age.

Qualifications:

  • Child & Youth Care Diploma or acceptable equivalent and related experience.
  • Residential Care experience would be an asset.
  • Caseload and healing plan development and implementing with the young males.
  • Provide support/supervision to the youth.
  • Program development and facilitation skills.
  • Liaise and consult with collateral agencies about specific service recipient or service concerns in general.
  • Needs to have the ability to work cooperatively with others and contribute as a team member.
  • Ability to work under stressful situations.
  • Knowledge of the Child Welfare Legislation and standards.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of Indigenous values and community issues.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Must provide a current (within the last three months) Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Query, Child Abuse Registry Check & be subject to a Prior Contact Check.
