POSITION TYPE  TERM, FULL-TIME

Position Summary

Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Service Delivery the incumbent will be responsible for a wide range of financial functions by providing the following key activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure invoices are reviewed, assessed and paid in a timely manner, and are documented for proper tracking, and ensure elimination of duplicate payment.
  • Process cheques and travel requisitions.
  • Coding and entering financial information into Excel spreadsheets.
  • Ensure all invoices are reconciled with purchase orders.
  • Ensure cheques receive proper signing authority, and are distributed in a timely manner.
  • Respond to internal and external inquires in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Setting up accounts with various vendors.
  • Maintain Petty Cash by reconciling receipts to expenses and replenishment.
  • Develop and maintain easy access filing system related to accounts payable, supplier agreements and/or contracts.
  • Knowledgeable of financial terms, general ledgers, cost-share, department codes, etc.
  • Develop excellent working relationships with suppliers.
  • Assist in the development of budgets and calculating salaries and MERC’s formula.
  • Dependable, punctual and reliable with professional ethics.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Post-secondary education in finance, accounting, or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of Sage computer accounting systems, Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Excellent written, communication and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural skills to work in a First Nations environment.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and be able to travel upon request.
  • Adhere to Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs’ policies and procedures and Financial Policy Manual.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and vehicle is an asset but not required.
