POSITION TYPE   PERMANENT, FULL-TIME (Mon – Fri, 8:45 am – 5:00 pm)

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Community Outreach Worker is, in accordance with professional practice standards, responsible for the following:

  • Arrange and support rental unit viewings, landlord interviews, and lease negotiations.
  • Provide tenant support including education on rights and responsibilities, home visits, and connection to local community resources.
  • Identify, build, and maintain ongoing relationships with local landlords.

Qualifications

Education

Valid Drivers’ license and access to a reliable vehicle

 Service Delivery Skills, Expertise and Experience

Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in community, preferably with program's target population

Experience providing outreach with hard to hard-to-reach populations

Critical Skills

Proven knowledge and ability in relationship-building, critical thinking, facilitation, decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills

Focus on Results

Demonstrated ability to prioritize and focus work-related activities to effectively and efficiently achieve service goals and produce expected results/outcomes

Alignment with Organizational Values

Commitment to the principles that guide Mount Carmel Clinic, as reflected in the history, vision, mission and values

Indigenous Understanding

Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture and traditions and the impact of colonization on the health and well-being of Indigenous individuals and families

Proven ability to work within an interdisciplinary team environment with respect, professionalism, cooperation, sensitivity and cultural awareness

Communication

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and proficiency in the use of computer systems

Assets

Post-secondary education in a Social Services field
