POSITION TYPE TERM (To March 31, 2027, with possible extension), FULL-TIME
Position Summary:
Under the direction of EUTC Management, the Youth Unit Lead – Youth Program Coordinator oversees the Youth Unit at the Eagle Urban Transition Centre, including the Eagle’s Nest Project. This role coordinates unit operations, youth programming, and supports minor case planning and management. The position leads initiatives that promote youth social, emotional, educational, and employment readiness development, and works closely with Youth Unit staff, Eagle’s Nest staff, volunteers, and community partners to ensure coordinated, meaningful programming that supports positive outcomes.
Key Activities:
- Provide day-to-day leadership and operational oversight of the Youth Unit, including the Eagle’s Nest Project
- Act as Team Lead by supporting, mentoring, and guiding the Youth Unit and Eagle’s Nest staff
- Oversee youth programming across the unit, ensuring activities are aligned with program objectives, culturally responsive, and youth-centered
- Work collaboratively with Eagle’s Nest staff to plan, coordinate, and implement programming, schedules, and activities
- Coordinate staff schedules, shift coverage, and program calendars to ensure consistent supervision and effective service delivery across all youth programs
- Assist clients in identifying options and developing plans of action while providing ongoing guidance, support, and follow-up
- Participate in minor case planning and case management, including goal setting, progress tracking, documentation, and coordination with internal and external supports
- Support Eagle’s Nest participants in developing educational and employment readiness skills, including life skills, confidence building, and goal planning
- Supervise youth activities and assist with pre-release and release planning
- Participate in client intake, selection, and admission to appropriate programs
- Implement life skills workshops, substance abuse treatment programs, behavior management programs, youth services programs, and other community-based initiatives under the supervision of social services or health care professionals
- Assist in evaluating program effectiveness by tracking behavioral changes, participation levels, and responses to interventions
- Maintain regular communication with social service agencies, educational institutions, employment services, and health care providers involved with clients
- Serve as a mentor and role model, promoting positive behavior, cultural pride, inclusivity, accountability, and personal growth
- Mobilize and coordinate volunteer resources and activities in collaboration with internal programs and community partners
- Maintain accurate attendance records, incident reports, case notes, and program documentation
- Maintain program statistics for evaluation, reporting, and research purposes
- Assist with program budgets, supply inventory, and purchasing Support management with reporting, unit planning, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Completion of a college or university program in social work, child and youth care, psychology or other social science or health-related discipline is usually required.
- Previous work experience in a social service environment as a volunteer or in a support capacity may replace formal education requirements for some occupations in this unit group.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work independently in determining work methods or priorities.
- Ability to work evenings or weekends as needed for events or program schedules.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills.
- Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with First Nation stakeholders.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle may be required.
- Must be able to provide a clear Criminal Record Check (including vulnerable sector) and clear Child Abuse Check.
