POSITION TYPE  PERMANENT, FULL-TIME

Summary of Position:

Reporting to the Emergency Placement Resource House Manager (EPR-HM), the Awasis Emergency Placement Resource Worker (EPRW) is responsible for the day-to-day functioning of the program. The EPRW is responsible for implementing all aspects of the day-to-day functioning of the program. The EPRW is expected to provide ongoing, culturally sensitive care while adhering to organizational policies and procedures. A major focus of their work with young people is to always be a positive role model and to intervene purposefully in the young people's daily life. EPRW works from a needs-based, trauma informed, relational child and youth care approach as per the organization’s expectations and standards.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C (training will be provided).
  • 2+ years working knowledge of Child and Family Services Standards and Regulations preferred.
  • Experience working with children and vulnerable youth.
  • Strong relationship building skills and experience in de-escalation.
  • Knowledge of trauma and resilience informed care
  • ASIST Certificate (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) preferred.
  • Mental Health & Safe Talk will be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous customs, traditions, and beliefs will be considered an asset.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-systemic team.
  • Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
