JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the development and day to day operations and management of the Building Operations Technician Program including program development, implementation, instruction, facilitation and learner support.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

  • Assist in the development of curriculum, preparation of course materials, instructional materials and evaluation tools.
  • Deliver lesson plans/activities/mark and assess student work using a systematic plan of lectures, discussions, audio-visual presentations, labs, and field studies.
  • Review and update course outlines, textbooks, and course documents as applicable.
  • Coordinate subject matter instruction, guest lectures, and work practicum sessions with industry partners.
  • Apply and maintain standards of quality operating methods, processes, systems and procedures.
  • Determine individual student learning needs and supports.
  • Evaluate and assess student progress and discuss results with students and program management.
  • Prepare and implement remedial programs for students requiring extra help.
  • Participate in staff meetings, educational conferences and instructor training workshops.
  • Communicate, coordinate and work collaboratively with other departments of CAHRD and external stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary education and/or a combination of relevant training and experience.
  • Industry experience.
  • Valid Manitoba’s driver’s license (access to a reliable vehicle is considered an asset).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Proven ability and experience in relating to and working with the Indigenous community.
  • Ability to work effectively with participants, co-workers and supervisors.
  • Strong project management skills; including, creating, planning and implementing program outcomes.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experienced in facilitating workshops and training.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Competent in MS-Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and internet use.
