This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting children’s growth and well-being in a positive and inclusive learning environment.

  • Assist with organizing learning materials, classroom set-up and activity preparation.
  • Support culturally respectful and inclusive programming that reflects Indigenous values and ways of knowing.
  • Participate in team meetings, training and ongoing program activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Completion of or enrollment in the 40-hour Child Care Assistant course as required by the Province of Manitoba within the first year of employment.
  • Current Infant/Child First Aid and CPR Certificate is considered an asset.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, and Child Abuse Registry Check.

Experience and Skills

  • Experience working with children in a childcare, educational or related environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous (First Nations, Red River Métis, and Inuit) communities or culturally diverse environments is considered an asset.
  • Experience supporting children with varying developmental needs is an asset.

Skill and Abilities

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Ability to build positive and respectful relationships with children and families.
  • Understanding of child development and play-based learning approaches.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, patience and learning approaches.
  • Reliable, adaptable, and organized with strong time-management skills.
  • Ability to perform physical duties including lifting up to 40lbs, standing and sitting for extended periods of time, and responding to emergencies.

Additional Requirements
