The role focuses on managing the day-to-day operations, including staff supervision, program planning, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering strong relationships with families. Bookkeeping, payroll, and human resources are managed by the central administrative team, allowing the Director to concentrate on delivering a stable, developmentally appropriate program that aligns with Manitoba Early Learning and Childcare standards.

The Director works closely with early childhood educators and collaborates with a parent committee to ensure effective communication and continuous improvement of the program. Responsibilities also include mentoring staff and students, maintaining licensing requirements, and representing the daycare in community and stakeholder relationships.

This position requires a leader with sound judgment, strong organizational skills, and a deep understanding of early childhood education, focused on maintaining a safe, consistent, and engaging environment for both infants and staff.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Infant Daycare Program, ensuring compliance with MELCC regulations and NETES’s mission.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, nurturing environment for children.

  • Develop and implement curriculum, assess children’s development, and create individualized action plans when necessary.
  • Foster strong communication with parents and families, facilitating involvement activities.
  • Manage program enrollment, waitlists, and children’s records.
  • Prepare necessary reports for MELCC and NETES compliance.
  • Monitor staff schedules, inventory, and ensure all supplies are stocked.
  • Coordinate parent advisory committee meetings.
  • Assist with budgeting, and monitor expenses.
  • Supervise, support, and mentor staff, students, and volunteers; conduct regular observations and monthly staff meetings.
  • Manage recruitment and training of volunteers and new employees.
  • Ensure compliance with NETES HR policies and support staff performance evaluations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, ECE training programs, and multidisciplinary professionals.
  • Promote a positive public image of the daycare, staying updated on early childhood education trends.
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and adherence to NETES policies.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in early childhood education, with a minimum of 3+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of Manitoba Early Learning and Child Care (MELCC) regulations and best practices in child development.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and lead a diverse team, including staff, volunteers, and students.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for children.
  • Experience in budget management, financial planning, and administrative tasks.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with families, staff, and community partners.
  • Knowledge of child development assessment tools and techniques.
  • Ability to create, implement, and evaluate educational programs and curricula.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development in early childhood education and leadership.
  • Strong understanding of inclusion practices and working with children with diverse needs.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications.
