Overview:
The Driver is responsible for providing safe and reliable transportation services to children, families, and staff involved with Waywayseecappo Child & Family Services Inc.. This role supports the agency's mission by ensuring timely, efficient, and secure transport for clients to and from appointments, court hearings, therapy sessions, foster homes, and other relevant services. The Driver also plays a key role in maintaining the cleanliness and operational readiness of the agency's vehicles.
Duties:
- Client transportation, driving children/families to appointments, youth programs, drop_ins, workshops, etc.
- Conduct routine checks and maintenance on agency vehicles, including inspecting tires, fluid levels, brakes, lights, and other critical systems.
- Report any mechanical issues to the Transportation Coordinator or supervisor and arrange for repairs as needed.
- Keep vehicles clean and organized, both inside and outside, ensuring a professional environment for clients.
- Follow all traffic laws and agency policies related to the operation of vehicles.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including the proper use of child safety seats, seat belts, and other relevant safety equipment.
- Perform other duties as needed to support the agency’s operations and mission.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Grade 12 Diploma.
- At least 1 year of experience driving for a transportation-related job, preferably in a social services or child welfare.
- Ability to speak Ojibway.
- Have a full Class 5 driver’s license.
- Clean Drivers's Abstract.
- Punctual and reliable.
- Knowledgeable of Ojibway culture, language and willingness to learn.
- Clear adult abuse registry, child abuse registry and criminal record checks.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work effectively independently and as a member of teams.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends.
