Job Summary:
The Housing Support Worker is responsible to empower and provide resources to the residents of Chalmers and the broader community of Elmwood at imminent risk of homelessness. The Housing Support Worker must work simultaneously with the Housing Team to provide support for them and their clients. This position requires good communication skills, willingness to learn and listen, friendliness, professionalism in all areas, positive problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently as well as on a team.
This person will also support the Emergency Hamper program that we have. They will be the person that connects with individuals and families in the area that require an emergency hamper. This position requires someone that has empathy and compassion and will treat everyone with dignity and respect.
Key Responsibilities:
Housing Team Support
Duties related to this may include but is not limited to:
- Find housing in accordance with the needs of participants, either in public or private market (emergency housing or transitional housing).
- Assist with rental applications.
- Follow-up with clients.
- Support and accompany participants to rental viewings.
- Maintain and organize up to date documentation of all interaction with program participants.
Emergency Hampers
Duties related to this may include:
- Keep inventory of items in Emergency Pantry.
- Apply for grants to keep Pantry stocked up.
- Create hampers for individuals and families in the area.
- Keep detailed records of hampers being given out and report numbers to the Executive Director and Board Members.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of all expenses for the Emergency Pantry and any grant related items.
- Prepare regular updates and reports for the Executive Director and board of directors.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
