POSITION TYPE FULL-TIME, SEASONAL
The Line Cook plates dishes and completes basic food prepping tasks for the restaurant.
Job Duties/Competencies:
- Prepare and cook menu items such as dressings, sauces, appetizers, sides, and entrees;
- Prep, wash, and chop meal components for larger dishes;
- Plate meals according to the instructions of the executive chef;
- Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, and other kitchen equipment;
- Clean prep station and put away equipment;
- Maintain a clean and sanitized kitchen environment;
- Helping manage food inventory which includes rotating stock and putting away orders;
- Ensuring all food presentations meet restaurant's specifications and commitment to quality;
- Assisting with dishwashing when necessary.
Skills and Qualifications:
- One years’ experience as a line cook, restaurant cook, or prep cook is an asset;
- Experience working with Rational ovens is an asset;
- Certificate in Culinary Arts is an asset;
- Food Handlers Certificate is an asset;
- Experience with various cooking methods and procedures;
- Familiar with industry best practices;
- Strong organizational, problem solving and multi tasking skills;
- Experience working for a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous community is an asset;
- Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, and MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
- Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
