POSITION TYPE  FULL-TIME, 40 HOURS/WEEK

About the Role:

The overall goal of Restoring the Sacred is to support youth who are transitioning to Winnipeg, so they can remain focused on their education, meeting new friends, growing and sharing new experiences in a positive and safe environment, with strengthened resilience and reduced risks of victimization.

What We Need:

A committed and engaged Youth Activities Worker who will provide ongoing support and mentorship to participants and act as a resource to help them succeed in achieving their educational goals and their transition to living in Winnipeg. The selected candidate will be responsible for curriculum development, planning, organizing, and instructing the components of our Restoring the Sacred program; including Life Skills, Ways of Being, the Circle of Courage model, and the Reclaiming our Sacredness curriculum. The Youth Activities Worker is also responsible for monthly curriculum development, planning, organizing, and instructing of the mentorship component of the program. You must be committed to cultural reclamation and traditional healing practices.

What You Bring:

  • Experience working in the Indigenous community or equivalent combination of education and relevant experiences (post-secondary education is an asset)
  • Experience working with youth and facilitating groups
  • Knowledgeable of community resources
  • Experience in delivering Life Skills programming
  • Experience in recruitment, assessment and selection of participants
  • Able to prioritize and have strong time management skills
  • Proven team player who demonstrates flexibility and creativity
  • Proficient record-keeping abilities, including stat collection
  • Confident verbal and written communication, and professional work behaviour
  • Understands the value of a good role model for youth and demonstrates a commitment to staff and participant privacy
  • Must be respectful, sensitive, and inclusive as demonstrated in their ability to communicate and interact with other staff and diverse community participants
  • Current CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate is an asset
  • A valid class 5 Driver’s License
  • Must be prepared to work 40 hours a week with flexible hours including some weekends, and evenings
