POSITION TYPE  CASUAL

DUTIES

Safety, Health and Security Services is recruiting for 6 casual Security Officer positions. Although most of these are casual positions, we are seeking individuals who are committed to working close to full time hours if there is a need. Security Officers are an integral part of the department team. The Security Officer needs to be highly motivated, self directed, and service orientated. They will be working in a collaborative and fast paced environment. Reporting to the Manager, Security Services, this position will be required to provide assistance and direction to students, faculty, staff and visitors to ensure that they receive an excellent customer service experience. The Security Officer will be responsible to respond and investigate complaints while maintaining accurate records. This position will work not only within a multidisciplinary team but also be required to work independently while conducting foot and/or mobile patrols. The Security Officer will be responsible for mobile patrols of outlying RRC Polytech spaces within Winnipeg and Regional campuses. The Security Officer plays a key role in the college's Emergency Preparedness Program.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma
  • Valid Province of Manitoba Security Guard license
  • Experience in providing security services in a hospital, post-secondary institution, or government security environment
  • Experience in writing clear and concise reports
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and work independently during assigned shifts
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
  • Effective verbal communication skills
  • Effective conflict resolution skills
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to operate related security technology
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience operating CCTV, alarm monitoring and door access, patrol systems
  • Experience working within diverse populations

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
  • Incumbent must provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Records Check
  • Incumbent must provide a current and satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check
  • May be required to work at various RRC Polytech campuses
  • Incumbent must hold a valid class 5 driver`s license
