The Opportunity:
The Coordinator for the Butterfly Club will be a motivated and positive role model and will provide academic, cultural and leadership activities and resources to Indigenous girls and two-spirit youth, 9-13 years old. You will be committed to Indigenous knowledge, cultural reclamation, and able to imbed traditional ways of being into the program, service delivery and practice.
What You Will Be Doing…
- Indigenous cultural reclamation;
- Environmental stewardship;
- Fostering youth skill development and personal growth;
- Providing leadership, and exposure to community involvement;
- Create opportunities for youth to develop self-confidence in an inclusive, safe and supportive environment;
- Supervising staff, youth, and volunteers;
- Maintaining budgets with multiple program agreements;
- Program implementation and evaluation related to objectives and budget;
- Preparing internal and comprehensive reports and source additional sources of funding;
Who You Are:
- Experienced in supervising and managing staff, with demonstrated leadership skills;
- Experienced in maintaining budgets, writing reports and applying for funding;
- Committed to addressing issues that Indigenous girls and two-spirit youth experience;
- Knowledgeable on the identification and assessment of risk and prevention factors;
- Possess a high degree of resourcefulness, flexibility and adaptability;
- Excellent organizational, time management, and classroom management skills;
- Professional ethics, alongside maintaining strict confidentiality to staff and participants;
- Commitment to cultural reclamation practice;
You Have:
- Relevant post-secondary education, or combination of education and experiences;
- At least three (3) years’ experience in successful program creation, planning, coordination, recruitment, youth engagement, and facilitating groups;
- At least three (3) years’ experience working with Indigenous youth;
- A valid Manitoba Driver’s License, clear drivers abstract and reliable access to a vehicle;
- Flexibility in hours, including some weekend and evening shifts;
- A recent (as of the past 6 months) Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector, and Child Abuse Registry Check;
- Commitment to cultural reclamation practice;
