POSITION TYPE   FULL-TIME

Position Overview

The WIEC Coordinator plays a key role in advancing WIEC’s strategic priorities, including its four priority areas and the MMIWG2S+ 10-Year Strategy. Reporting to the CEO, this position coordinates projects, supports implementation planning, and strengthens collaboration across member organizations and partners to improve outcomes for Urban Indigenous people in Winnipeg. This role focuses on translating strategy into action, supporting cross-sector initiatives, advancing gender-based violence (GBV) prevention efforts, and ensuring accountability, alignment, and measurable impact. The Coordinator works in a highly collaborative environment grounded in Indigenous ways of being and doing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate implementation of WIEC’s strategic priorities, projects, and work plans
  • Track progress, timelines, deliverables, and outcomes across initiatives
  • Support GBV prevention efforts, including cross-sector coordination and systems integration
  • Facilitate meetings, engagement sessions, and partner collaboration
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with member organizations and stakeholders
  • Support data collection, reporting, and evaluation aligned with Indigenous Data Sovereignty principles
  • Prepare reports, briefings, and funding-related documentation
  • Coordinate logistics, communications, and administrative processes
  • Support governance, accountability structures, and sustainability planning

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • 2–3 years experience in coordination, project management, or community-based work
  • Experience working with multiple partners or across sectors
  • Knowledge of Indigenous communities and organizations in Winnipeg
  • Understanding of MMIWG2S+ and GBV issues is an asset
  • Strong organizational, communication, and facilitation skills
  • Experience with reporting, tracking, and evaluation processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and virtual engagement tools (e.g., Zoom, Teams, survey monkey, etc.)
  • Valid Manitoba driver’s license and access to vehicle
