POSITION TYPE FULL-TIME (Mon – Fri, 8 am – 4 pm)
Background: The Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre is currently seeking an individual for the position of Care Planner. The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating and supporting, providing case management for at-risk females and transgender youth aged 13-17 years of age. The site is a six-bed facility that will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and offer a range of assessment and support services. It is anticipated that all six beds would run at a high rate of occupancy within short-term and long-term residency. The facility is a safe and nurturing environment where young women have the opportunity to experience a strong sense of caring, support and encouragement, while building capacity to achieve their dreams.
Qualifications:
- Child & Youth Care Diploma or acceptable equivalent and related experience;
- Residential Care experience would be considered an asset;
- Caseload and Healing Plan development and implementation with the young females;
- Provides support/supervision to the residents;
- Program development and facilitation skills;
- Liaises, supervises and consults with collateral agencies about specific service recipients or service concerns in general;
- Must have the ability to work cooperatively with others and contribute as a team member;
- Ability to work under stressful situations;
- Knowledge of Child Welfare Legislation and Standards;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Understanding of Indigenous values and community issues;
- Current First Aid/CPR Certification;
- Valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver's License required;
- Must provide a current (within the last three months) Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Query, Child Abuse Registry Check and be subject to a prior contact check.
