POSITION TYPE   CASUAL

Position Summary:

We are seeking compassionate, responsible, and resilient individuals to join our team as Casual Residential Care Providers in a specialized residential program supporting two homes, each with two high-risk teenage girls, currently in the care of CFS.

The youth in this home have experienced sexual exploitation, trauma, addictions and complex emotional and behavioral needs. Staff play a critical role in providing consistent supervision, emotional support, safety planning, and trauma-informed care within a caring, supportive, non-judgemental, culturally appropriate home.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 24/7 supervision and care within a residential home environment.
  • Build safe, trusting relationships with youth who have experienced trauma and exploitation.
  • Support youth in developing life skills, emotional regulation, and healthy coping strategies.
  • Implement individual care plans, safety plans, and behavioural support strategies.
  • Maintain a safe environment and monitor high-risk behaviours, including potential exploitation risks.
  • Respond calmly and effectively to crisis situations or escalations.
  • Accompany youth to appointments, school, and community activities.
  • Complete accurate documentation and shift reports.
  • Work collaboratively with CFS workers, clinicians, and program staff.
  • Follow all agency policies, safety protocols, and confidentiality requirements.

 Qualifications:

  • Experience working with high-risk youth, trauma, exploitation, or the child welfare system preferred.
  • Education in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed and harm-reduction approaches.
  • Ability to maintain firm boundaries while building supportive relationships.
  • Strong crisis management and de-escalation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Requirements:

  • Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector
  • Child Abuse Registry Check
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License is an asset
  • First Aid & CPR Certification
  • Non-violent Crisis Intervention training (or willingness to obtain)
