Background:
Blue Thunderbird Family Care Inc. is seeking individuals for Youth Mentor positions for our 6-bed Transition to independent Living Residential Home. The successful candidates will be responsible to facilitate and support female and identifying female youth, ages 15-18, in care of Manitoba Child and Family Service agencies. The site is a 6-bed facility, (s x s house 3 beds on each side), that will operate 24 hours a day, 7days a week. The Program is a safe and nurturing environment where young women will have the opportunity to experience a strong sense of caring, support, culture and encouragement while building capacity to achieve independence and their dreams.
Qualifications:
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Produce satisfactory background checks.
- Child & Youth Care Diploma or acceptable equivalent and related experience.
- Residential Care experience would be an asset.
- Supporting Caseload and healing plans and implementing with the young women.
- Ability to work under stressful situations.
- Knowledge of the Child Welfare Legislation and standards.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Have current First Aid/CPR Level C Certification.
- Have a valid class 5 Driver’s License and access to a vehicle.
- Have an understanding of Indigenous History and its impact on children/families.
- Ability to establish strong, positive working relationships with co-workers and contribute positively as a team member.
