POSITION TYPE FULL-TIME, PART-TIME, 3 to 20 HOURS/WEEK
Position Summary
The Program Interpreter (Level 2) is primarily responsible for facilitation of school programs. The Program Interpreter (Level 2) may also be responsible for facilitating and/or assisting with STEAM Club and special events as well as providing exemplary customer service and interacting with children and families in the museum galleries. The Program Interpreter (Level 2) will work in cooperation with other museum staff to ensure all museum guests have a positive experience.
Responsibilities
- Set up, facilitation/program delivery, and clean-up of school programs, STEAM Club, special events, and public programming such as Mini Monday.
- Provide exemplary customer service to all museum guests by answering Museum-related questions, addressing complaints, and notifying the Manager on Duty of all issues.
- Maintaining operational standards in the museum and galleries by ensuring gallery opening and closing procedures are executed accurately and adhered to in a timely manner, including completing cleaning tasks within the galleries.
- Other duties as assigned, including administration of First Aid, Day Camp support, and occasional cash handling as required to support public programming.
Education and Experience
- Completed or currently attending post-secondary education in elementary education, recreation, environmental sciences or another relevant program an asset.
- Minimum one year of related experience working with children and families.

- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to effectively communicate in an enthusiastic and engaging manner with children and adults in a non-traditional educational environment
- Experience in delivering customer service in a friendly and outgoing manner
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment with staff, volunteers, and the general public
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity to working with staff, volunteers, and other stakeholders with a wide variety of needs and from diverse backgrounds
Skills Desired
- Ability to work in both official languages an asset

- Acceptable results on a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) and Child Abuse Registry Check
