POSITION TYPE TERM (March 31, 2031), FULL-TIME
Duties:
The Indigenous Education Consultant, Early Learning and Child Care (the Consultant), leads the direction and implementation of a Manitoba specific, distinctions based Indigenous Early Learning and Child Care Policy Framework. The framework will support culturally safe, responsive early learning and childcare programs and advance the inclusion of Indigenous perspectives, knowledges, and worldviews across the early learning and childcare sector. This position leads high level and high-profile Indigenous education initiatives such as the co-development and co-implementation of treaty education, curriculum development and assessment for the Early Learning and Child Care Sector from an Indigenous perspective.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Post-secondary degree in Early Childhood Education, Developmental Studies or related discipline. Other combinations of education and experience may also be considered.
- Experience in researching, designing and evaluating complex policy and programs.
- Experience designing and reviewing curriculum and program materials with Indigenous perspectives in an early learning context.
- Experience working with Indigenous peoples, First Nation and Métis communities and Indigenous organizations, and the early learning and childcare sector.
- Excellent verbal communication skills, including experience delivering presentations.
- Effective written communication skills with the ability to convey complex information to a variety of audiences.
- Experience in project management and leading project teams.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to independently manage multiple assignments and meet
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships within the organization and with external stakeholders.
Desired:
- Knowledge of Manitoba’s early learning and childcare system.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing.
Conditions of Employment:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search, and a Child Abuse Registry Check
- Must be able to travel within Manitoba, including overnight stays, as required
