POSITION TYPE PERMANENT, FULL-TIME
Reporting to the Director of Winnipeg Services, as member of the supervisory team, the Prevention Supervisor coordinates and implements the agency’s preventative child and family services for the assigned units. This includes providing guidance and support to the Prevention Workers within the Unit. Partnering with the communities that we serve to promote and deliver education and awareness programming on behalf of the agency, in a manner which is culturally appropriate. The Prevention Supervisor contributes to the development and improvement of the Prevention department ‘s activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage assigned Prevention staff
- Communicate program direction and provide guidance to Prevention Workers from the assigned units
- Promote best practices in preventative child and family services which advance the cultural and land-based ideals of the northern First Nations
- Compile and deliver regular statistical reports
- Deliver regular reports about the units’ activities to the Director of Winnipeg Services
- Liaise with external collaterals on behalf of the agency
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Social Work (BSW), or in progress in combination with relevant experience
- Working knowledge of Child and Family Services Act, Standards, and Regulations
- 2+ years of experience in the field of child welfare
- Child welfare supervisory and training experience
- Knowledge of or experience working with northern Manitoba communities preferred
- Demonstrated understanding and respect for Indigenous culture
- Ability to speak the Cree and/or Dene language is considered an asset
Working Conditions:
- Fast-paced environment
- Confidentiality environment with access to sensitive information
- Overnight and remote travel approximately 25% of the time
- Background checks must meet Agency minimal acceptable standards
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle
