Position Summary
The Project Manager leads and delivers assigned projects across AIMA’s service areas, including governance support, financial administration initiatives, community programs, and Nation capacity-building projects.
This role is responsible for ensuring projects are not only coordinated, but fully implemented, operational, and aligned with community priorities. The Project Manager works directly with First Nation leadership, internal teams, and stakeholders to drive outcomes, resolve issues, and ensure successful program delivery across multiple initiatives.
This position operates as a cross-functional role supporting AIMA’s internal operations, affiliated business entities (including Shelly’s Indigenous Bistro), and First Nation partner communities. Assignments may vary based on organizational priorities, project needs, and capacity requirements. The Project Manager is expected to adapt to different environments and contribute across multiple service areas as required.
Project Managers may be assigned to specific service areas or Nation portfolios depending on organizational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Implementation
- Develop project workplans, timelines, and deliverables
- Lead implementation of consulting initiatives across multiple service areas
- Ensure project deliverables are completed, implemented, and functioning
- Monitor project progress and adjust timelines when required
- Identify and resolve project issues, delays, or gaps in delivery
- Community & Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate meetings with First Nation leadership, community staff, and project partners
- Support planning sessions, workshops, and community engagement activities
- Maintain clear, consistent, and professional communication with stakeholders
- Ensure culturally respectful communication practices at all times
- Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare project status reports and summaries for leadership
- Maintain organized project records and documentation
- Track project deliverables and reporting deadlines
- Support preparation of documentation for funding agreements and reporting requirements
- Cross-Department Coordination
- Work with finance, HR, and consulting teams to support project delivery
- Coordinate internal resources and information required for project activities
- Track action items from meetings and ensure follow-up tasks are completed
- Provide support across AIMA, affiliated business operations, and First Nation partner projects as required
- Land Management & Community Project Support
- Support coordination of land management and community development initiatives when assigned
- Assist with gathering documentation and information required for community planning or development projects
- Coordinate project deliverables related to land, governance, or operational initiatives
- Program Implementation & Operational Support
- Work directly with community staff and leadership to implement systems, processes, and program activities
- Support rollout of HR, financial, governance, and operational frameworks as assigned
- Assist in troubleshooting operational challenges and providing practical solutions
- Ensure systems and processes implemented are sustainable and understood by community staff
- Provide hands-on support during initial implementation phases when required
Authority & Decision-Making
- Make day-to-day operational decisions to keep projects on track
- Identify risks and implement corrective actions where appropriate
- Coordinate project priorities and scheduling
- Escalate high-risk or strategic issues to senior leadership
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of experience in project management, program delivery, or community-based work
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Experience working across multiple functional areas (HR, finance, governance, or operations) considered an asset
- Experience working with First Nation communities considered an asset
- Proficiency with reporting tools and documentation management

Work Conditions
- On-site work environment in Winnipeg, Manitoba
- Regular travel to First Nation communities may be required
- Work may include supporting AIMA internal operations, affiliated business entities, and First Nation communities depending on project assignments and organizational priorities
- Flexible schedule may be required based on project timelines and operational needs
- Exempt from overtime provisions
